Welcome back.
It’s been far too long.
The end of last year was a bit of a whirlwind personally and professionally:
August 2024: left my job at X/Twitter. One of these days I’ll write about how the acquisition happened, why we sold, what the experience was like as the first acquired company under Elon, and why I left - but we’ll save that tale for a future post.
September 2024: traveled around the US doing a series of content dinners with founders in SF, Austin, and NY for Napa - the ghostwriting company I co-founded earlier in 2024.
October 2024: returned to northern Minnesota to pack up our cabin, which is getting demolished and re-built this winter. My tactical advice on re-building a house from 2,000 miles away? Don’t. But summers in the midwest are certainly undefeated:
November 2024: our second daughter was born and we now have 3 kids under 3. She’s perfect, and I am tired:
December 2024: hosted about 139 family members for Christmas (my wife tells me this is an exaggeration, but it’s how I remember it), and managed to visit just about every zoo, aquarium, and museum in Northern California with our two toddlers. Some of my favorite moments of last year were walking around with these two as they bonded over horses, sharks, dinosaurs, and slides “where you can go down really fast.”
And it’s been more of the same in 2025.
I’ve spent the last 7 months meandering:
A winding, busy, and rewarding course of angel investing, advising companies, incubating new projects, speaking at events, reading, and lots of family time.
With that brief life recap, I’ll leave you with three things that I’m excited about:
I’ve spent a good amount of time over the last few months recruiting and onboarding some of the best writers in the world to join Napa. Founder-led content marketing drove millions in ARR each year to my last company, and we’re now helping startups, agencies, and VCs do the same.
